DDAF was priviledged to visit the Pacific Marine Mammal Center recently, to witness all the good work under way to rescue and rehabilitate hundreds of sea lions who are the victims of this year's crisis. More than 330 sea lion pups and yearlings have been rescued by PMMC this year, shattering all previous records for rescues in a six-month period. Murchinson, Tex. - Volunteers at Doris Day's Horse Rescue and Adoption Center wrote and starred in a special holiday production, focused on caring for animals. Of course I watched the National Dog Show, but not for any special rooting interest -- all of mine are what we in these parts like to call “multicultural canines.”
As it turns out, I did have an interest in the winner, after the fact. The Best in Show dog was a wire fox terrier, the same breed that won last year, and co-owned by the same woman who owns last year’s winner, Malibu’s Torie Steele.
