CIMWI provides assistance to sea lions and other marine mammals for the 43 miles of Ventura coastline as part of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network. This is particularly important in light of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) taking the extraordinary step of declaring an Unusual Mortality Event for California sea lions for 2015. Since the first of the year, CIMWI has rescued more than 212 pups, following 137 total in all of 2014.
